Brothers,
Do you smell it? The hormonal undertones and the aroma of leftover Taco Bell in the thick Springfield air? That’s right, baby. MoEta is back for the school year and we brought our dancing shoes. It’s been an eventful two weeks. Our Fall ‘18 class moved in to the house and have since settled in snugly and without incident. Our executive board and their committee members met Saturday, August 24th, for their meeting with the Alumni and established the foundation for the rest of this semester.
Our brothers Rami Issawi, Jake Krickhahn, and Chris Krickhahn brought back lessons learned this summer while spending their time as Ruck Leadership Institute Scholars and from their quest down to the 56th Annual Grand Chapter Conclave in Houston! Collectively, we have set our sites on achieving first in every criteria on the Missouri State Fraternity-Sorority Life Scoreboard (manpower, academics, athletics, philanthropy, and service learning events) and have already very nearly insured our hold on the first place spot in philanthropy. Before the first class was held this fall, MoEta has already raised over $100,000 through Angels in the Outfield and the Italian Open. This breaks the previous FSL record of $75,173 which was also held by SigEp.
As some of you may know, Missouri State student enrollment dropped approximately 18% this year. The trend carried over into FSL, with most chapters seeing their recruitment classes being markedly smaller than years prior and we were no exception. However, even though the Fall ‘19 class only has 43 members (which is not small potatoes might I add) they are all stellar gentlemen and I look forward to mentoring them. Not to mention that our utilization of year round recruitment allows us to bring in new members more effortlessly than other fraternities on campus. We expect to Fall ‘19 is expected to rise to around 50 by the end of the semester and I have faith we can get more than that.
I’m going to be posting newsletters more frequently. You can expect a new newsletter at the end of every other month. Along with email, I will be posting these and other forms of content on our new MoEta website! Check out missouristate.sigep.org to view anything and everything MoEta!
