Sig Ep, ADPi, and AOPi, Greek Organizations sponsor Mrs. Gruver and Mrs. Piazza to Springfield for an open campus Anti-Hazing forum on February 5^th.  Over 375 Students showed up in the “A” Building Auditorium in a Standing Room Only show of interest in a very serious subject.  The Gruvers and Piazza’s shared their stories of how their freshmen sons were brutally hazed/forced by fraternities into drinking themselves into coma’s and then left unattended until the next day before anyone dialed 911.  Both boys not only died but suffered horrendous deaths that have devastated their families forever.  The presentation literally produced a room full of teary-eyed students shocked at the neglect and disrespect by so called brothers towards freshmen “pledges”.  The ladies also shared stunning statistics of fraternity deaths in the last 10 years as well as recent legislative action towards such abuses, which included a Missouri Law that now holds hazing as a felony!  MSU President Clif Smart recognized Sig Ep for taking bold steps toward anti-hazing not only nationally and locally at their chapters but encouraging all fraternities on the MSU campus to take the same anti-hazing approach to their new member programs.
